Are you enabling your people to do amazing things?
I am a big fan of Simon Sinek and his common sense approach to leadership and organizational strategy, which has the ability to seem so clear and yet leave us feeling like “DUH”, why didn’t I see that…
His latest Ted-Ed video is called “Why good leaders make you feel safe” and it connects this feeling of “safe” to the concept of organizational trust, which I truly believe is the backbone of a successful organizational culture. I’ve watched the video three times this weekend as I am finding it very resonating, especially the following three thoughts:
1) If you get the environment right, everyone has the capacity to do amazing things
2) leadership is a choice
3) authority does not equal leadership
What do you take from Simon’s view? Do you agree that we can translate this sense of trust and co-operation that seems embedded in a military culture to a corporate culture? Share your thoughts in the comments!
